“The Buff’s 30-year reputation for comfort food is proven daily with stacks of blueberry-granola cakes, Buffalo Bill’s bacon, tomato and sour cream omelets and Taylor Made Pie-a pile of hash browns, spicy sausage and hot-pepper cheese topped with a pair of eggs” - Ski Magazine 2010
“Over the last 15 years, Montana has seen tens of thousands of new residents. While the state has changed, some things like the Buffalo Cafe in Whitefish have remained institutions. Places you can always count on, not just to order something off the menu you had 20 years ago, but maybe to see a familiar face, to sit at a table where you sat with the girlfriend who became your wife. Or quite simply, to be able to count on a meal that as good today as it was 20 years ago -Dave Reese, Montana Traveler, 2006
“The locals and the ski bums have breakfast at the Buffalo Cafe, where they discuss religion- that is, they talk about snow” -Skiing, November ’92
“Ask where to go for breakfast in Whitefish and everyone will give you the same answer: the Buffalo Cafe. One morning we lingered there over coffee and pancakes for three hours. When we got up to leave, the waitress said, “Come back when you have more time to sit” -Travel and Leisure
Best breakfast ever!

The Buffalo Cafe was recommended to us in a travel guide on our trip to Montana last month. And I’m so glad it was. I think the name of my breakfast selection was the “Kansas City Pie.” And there was enough on my plate for two or three.
A “Must stop” for breakfast and dinner

We have eaten in the Buffalo Cafe for breakfast every chance we get when we visit. Breakfast are amazing on all levels; cheap, large, and absolutely delicious. If you’ve never been, make it a “must stop” when in town and you will not be disappointed.
So good, we ate there twice

Our first dinner in Whitefish and it was a good choice. Had couple of microbrews to start. DH had the blackboard special- beerbrats- and I had a pastrami sandwhich. YUM! It was huge and took half home for the next day’s breakfast.
Worth coming down the 5hrs

So after arriving in whitefish and finding a hotel to spend the next three nights, me and my girlfriend had the task of trying to find a place for dinner. After driving 5hrs from Calgary you could say we were both kind of tired and weren’t…
Great Dinner Too

Apparently everyone else goes went for breakfast, but we had dinner. Local crowd, cheerful service, good food. Noticed a guy in chef”s uniform ; this fact does not imply that they are a haute cuisine place at dinner, but they are not a…
Best Breakfast in Whitefish!!!

The best breakfast in Whitefish. Our family stumbled in to this awesome cafe last year on our vacation, and made it a must to return this summer (twice!). This is where the locals eat. The omelets are the best. The coffee is good and strong, …

It’s about as good as you’re going to get for a great Sunday breakfast in Whitefish, or anywhere else for that matter.Great people, great food and just one of those places that always feels like home – breakfasts rock, lunch is pretty …
Huge Cheeseburger, very tasty. Cold Beer. An interesting version of a Shirley Temple for my daughter, contained huckelberry goodness. Entire staff was beyond pleasant.

It’s true, I was eating huckleberry-buckwheat pancakes at the Buff at five years old- before pandering off to ski school on the bunny slope. The Buffalo cafe has been around longer than any other breakfast joint downtown for a reason.
Delicious food for a great price

After a couple of disappointing and more highly recommended and manicured places in town, we’ve decided to try the Buffalo Cafe. If you like burgers and great soups and salad, you will not be disappointed. Great wine selection. You will not regret dining here!
